Smudge Boutique AW15 Preview

I was kindly invited to an event at Smudge Boutique, organised by Chic PR, by Sally from Sally Akins, to check out their new autumn/winter pieces, and had been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks. And then tonight rolled around and it was better than I could have imagined.

Smudge Boutique is a ladies designer fashion store situated in West Kirby, that stocks brands like MinkPink, Wildfox and Supertrash. They also source designers from Australia such as Alice McCall, and a beautiful range of bags and accessories by Matt & Natt. They stock over 50 labels, many of which are difficult to find in the North West area.

The store is owned by Alison Dunn, Lauren Casey and Carina Walsh, and celebrated its third birthday in July. Smudge Boutique's ethos is designer fashion accessible to all tastes and budgets - the owners believe that there is no age limit on style, and have previously said, "If you're 75 but a 20 year old rocker at heart we've got something for you, and if you are 20 years old but want to channel old fashion glamour we have something for you too".

We were welcomed to the store by Lauren and Phoebe from Chic PR and a glass of Prosecco. Everyone was really friendly and we were advised to look around at all of the new autumn/winter stock and try on any pieces that took our fancy.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Smudge Boutique not only sell gorgeous clothes, but also stock little gifts and accessories, as well as some beauty products from Ortigia. I also met Danielle from Student To Staff Nurse at the event, and we both immediately fell in love with some of the bags and shoes.

Smudge Boutique have some beautiful pieces for the next season, and prices start from around £20, so there is something for every budget (although I did particularly adore a jumpsuit that turned out to be £150, which unfortunately my student budget can't quite stretch to - even if our loans have recently come in).

The staff at the shop were kindly rotating around handing out canapes, which were amazing. I especially enjoyed the goats cheese and cranberry one.

Elli Phillips from Juice FM was the host of the night and did a great job of introducing the different sections of the night. First up we had a mini fashion showcase, where some of the gorgeous models strutted their stuff wearing items available at Smudge.

I spotted these gold shoes in the window, and Danielle and I decided they were Carrie Bradshaw shoes. They are by Supertrash and are available on Smudge Boutique's online shop, or in the store itself.

As soon as the weather gets slightly colder, I get a little obsessed with coats - and this faux fur number would definitely do the trick.

A little later on, Lauren Casey did a little styling session to show us how to layer up as the weather gets gradually cooler. I loved how she layered this white shirt with the cropped polo neck jumper - plus she added a fur coat over the top that looked very chic.

There was also an interview with the owners, which was really interesting to listen to. They mentioned that they do free styling sessions with clients if you ring up and book in advance, which is great as they can show you items that you may not have considered. We were additionally given a goody bag each, containing a little candle and a couple of other bits, which just topped the night off.

I had a really great time and will definitely be visiting Smudge Boutique if I have a particular occasion that I need to buy something special for. It's really easy to get to from Liverpool via the train, and is only a 5 minute walk from the station. Thank you Smudge for having us, and thank you Chic PR for organising the event!
