Who doesn't love a good ol' bank holiday? For those of us who have 'normal' jobs, it's 4 whole blissful days off in a row, and for those of us that work shifts or are self-employed, it means that there are generally more people around when you actually do get time off. This may be the last full Easter weekend that I'll have off for a while, so I will certainly be embracing it!
The Easter bank holiday weekend seems to be one where everyone in Britain goes a little bit crazy - suddenly the shorts are whipped out, the barbecues are lit, and everyone is stuffing their faces with as many pieces of oval-shaped chocolates as possible. It's an excuse to sit in a beer garden, stay up as late as possible, and devour as much food as you like. It's like a bridge between winter and summer, and seems to be when spring really sets in.
So here are 5 things I'm looking forward to this long weekend:
So we just had to start with a cliche really, didn't we? Every year my mum basically buys all of the Easter chocolate (I'm surprised there's any left for anyone else, if I'm honest!), and we fill up a huge bowl with it that we just pick at over the Easter weekend. This year she seems to have bought more than any other year - she's found chocolate that I didn't even know existed! We have Galaxy bubble eggs, Oreo egg 'n' spoons, Reese's peanut butter eggs (yes, these are a thing) - plus all your standard Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs.
2) Other food
Seriously, if you can't pig out over the Easter bank holiday then when can you? Our family certainly makes the most of it - tonight we are having camembert to start and then salmon as our main, tomorrow we're going to have takeaway fish and chips, and on Sunday we're going out for Sunday lunch at a pub. Basically come Monday, I will not be fitting into my jeans.
Tomorrow we are going to stay in a flat in Barmouth in Wales as a family for a few days, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's not very often that the five of us are all together for an extended period of time, so it will be lovely to spend some time together relaxing, with no WiFi or phone signal. We all love playing cards and board games, so if the weather isn't that great then it doesn't matter too much.
4) Dog walks
We are taking our dogs with us to Barmouth, so I'm looking forward to some proper dog walks in the Welsh countryside. They are also allowed on parts of the Barmouth beach, and it's always fun playing with them in the sea.
5) Watching Take Me Out and Britain's Got Talent
As a family, we love watching Take Me Out and Britain's Got Talent - and we're spoilt because this weekend they are both coming back!
I hope you have a lovely weekend :)
